Stephanie Kaple writes The Island Shoe Girl Blog from her home in the Southernmost city of Key West, Florida. An Ohio native, Stephanie attended the University of Toledo where she completed an undergrad in psychology and earned a Master’s degree in counseling… no joke—she actually studied addiction.
Stephanie now lives Key West, where she has become known as The Island Shoe Girl. While the keys are her idea of heaven, imagine being a shoe fanatic and going to heaven to find all of the angels are wearing flip-flops! She quickly earned a reputation for wearing heels to every event; from beach parties to hurricane evacuations—there are no excuses for flat shoes!
When she is not shopping for shoes online or planning another road trip to a mainland mall, Stephanie works as a Case Manager at a homeless shelter. She hopes to one day save the world in a pair of Manolos. Her blog presents her weekly view of the world from atop her fabulous heels. No guides to shopping…no “must have” heels….just her thoughts on shoes, celebrity gossip, current events and what ever else pops into her mind.
You can contact Stephanie by email at theislandshoegirl@yahoo.com or follow her shoe shopping on twitter “IslandShoeGirl.”
Every Friday the Island Shoe Girl welcomes guests from all areas of the Fashion World to discuss what’s happening with fashion. Stephanie discusses how to get the best deals, wear the latest styles, and how to make fashion work for you!
You can listen to Fashion Friday every Friday at 3pm on KONK AM, Key West’s Community Radio Station. If you are listening in the Florida Keys tune into 1500AM or go online to www.konkam.com. It’s the perfect way to get ready for the weekend and stay in style.
Each week the Island Shoe Girl hands out the prestigious Stiletto of the Week to one deserving recipient and throws a Croc of the Week to the less worthy stories of the week.
So if you live in flip flops or die for the latest designer heels… tune in, log in, and join in every Fashion Friday!
Very original, unique and easy fun reading. Kudos to you!
hey a fellow toledoian lol
Yes, I do have my Toledo history! Hope you like the Island Shoe Girl and will be back again!
Hi, Stephanie . . . . Nice blog. And you DO have some world-class shoes! I love those silver Betsy’s. Do check-out Comme Il Faut (COMME IL FAUT) in Buenos Aires, and also Neo Tango Shoes. They make fantastic tango shoes. You’ll love them, and there’s no law against wearing them in the street or in your boudoir, or displaying them. Hugs, Gail
We’re here with your Grandmother Kaple loking at your web site
Hi Stephanie, Your mom sent your piece “Goodbye to A Childhood Home.” Made me and my 29 year daughter, Tara, cry. I grew up in Gahanna, Ohio and still drive by 236 James Rd. whenever I’m in Central Ohio. I know your mom and dad will have fun making new memories in Summerville . . . it’s a wonderful town with lots of Ohioans scattered about. My daughter is a shoe girl also, so I have passed on your blog address. Take care & hope to meet you when you’re in Charleston for Christmas. Mary Carson
Happy Birthday Steph!
We love the Island Shoe Girl…
Chris, Pam, Casey and Corey
From one counselor to the next, you’re my hero by living the dream in the Keys. Soak up a few rays for me. They just aren’t the same in Central Florida.

IF YOU CAN, SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE FROM OUTSIDE AND ONLY IF YOU JUST HAPPEN TO BE IN THE AREA. I’M LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME…..AND DON’T BE GETTIN’ DRUNK THIS WEEKEND!!!! STANLEY AND DIXIE ARE RELYING ON YOU TO COME HOME.
THE SITE IS AWESOME. WANT TO SEE YOU COMPARE SHOES TO AN AIRPLANE RIDE WHEN YOU’RE HAVING EAR/PRESSURE ISSUES.
What a great concept and site!
Thank you for starting Stiletto Society. As I told you the first time I met you, I am sick of a few locals (but mostly tourists) telling me to “ditch my heels, this isn’t Miami”. Well, too bad! I’m a former upstate New Yorker and visit my bff in Manhattan a lot. I like dressing up and I love my heels. I was at a party at Southernmost on the Beach and literally sunk in the sand…what was the option, flip flops? Ewwwww.
